Dogs at Your Weddings? Here’s How to Make It Work

Planning an intimate elopement or small wedding (2–50 guests)? If your dog is part of your everyday life, there's no reason they can't be part of your wedding day. Whether you’re getting married in the forest, at a private Airbnb, or by the coast, including your pup adds meaning, comfort, and personality to the moment.

Because they’re part of the family, too.

Why It Works?

They’re family
Your wedding is about the people (and pets) who matter most. Including your dog makes the day feel more like you.

They help you stay present
Having your dog around can ease nerves, bring calm, and make the whole day feel more natural and relaxed.

They’ll make it unforgettable
From walking down the aisle to popping up in your photos, they’ll bring unexpected joy to the day—and memories that stick.

Easy Ways to Include Your Dog

  • As ring bearer or flower pup: A bow tie or floral collar is all they need.

  • In your ceremony: Let them sit beside you or be mentioned in your vows.

  • In your photos: Our photographers are experienced at capturing genuine, low-key moments with your pup.

  • As a special guest: They don’t need a big role. Just being there can be enough.

How to Keep It Stress-Free

  1. Choose a pet-friendly location: We’ll guide you to dog-friendly venues and Airbnb spots.

  2. Have a handler: Ask a guest or hire a chaperone to manage walks, water, and downtime.

  3. Pack the essentials: Bring treats, water, leash, poop bags, and a familiar toy or bed.

  4. Read the room (and your dog): Not all dogs want to be in the spotlight. If yours is shy, keep their role simple or just have them join for some post-ceremony cuddles.

A Real Moment: Nicole & Daniel in The Dandenongs

When we eloped in the forest at an Air BNB in The Dandenongs, our fur baby, was there every step of the way. She watched us getting ready, toasting each other post ceremony, and being a part of our family photos. It felt like the perfect blend of completeness, intimacy, and truly us.

Including your dog in your elopement or micro wedding isn’t just doable, it’s welcomed.

With a smaller guest list, relaxed schedule, and flexible format, there’s room to make the day feel like you in every way. And yes, that includes your pup.

Let’s plan a day that feels like home, with a little fur, love, and laughter.
